Plot
Cherry follows the wild journey of a disenfranchised young man from Ohio who meets the love of his life, only to risk losing her through a series of bad decisions and challenging life circumstances.
After serving in Iraq as an army medic, our main character Nico returns home and battles the demons of undiagnosed PTSD and spirals into drug addiction. Draining his finances, Cherry turns to bank robbing to fund his addiction, shattering his relationship with Emily along the way.
My personal opinion
I would give this movie a 7/10 - Sure, it was difficult to watch at times due to the incredibly raw & realistic portrayals of what life with PTSD is like for so many people. But I thought the cinematography was beautiful and helped portray the story in such a unique way.
Also the acting from Tom Holland and Ciara Bravo was just...WOW. The way there were able to showcase what people with addiction have to go through and how draining it is just left me speechless.
My favourite quotes from this film are...
(Not in order)
- “Sometimes I feel like I’ve already seen everything that’s going to happen. And it’s a nightmare.”- Cherry
- “Sometimes I feel like love doesn’t actually exist. It’s just pheromones playing tricks on people.”- Emily
- “The one thing about robbing banks is you’re mostly robbing women. So the last thing you want to be is rude.” - Cherry
- “I take all the beautiful things to heart and then they f*ck my heart, until I about die from it.” - Cherry
